What is hayfever?

Also known as seasonal rhinitis and conjunctivitis, hayfever symptoms are the result of airborne pollens carried by the wind. Mast cells in the nose and eyes respond to the protein in the outer coat of the pollen grain, causing inflammation of the membranes. Hayfever sufferers experience this as red, itchy watery eyes and a runny or congested nose. The itchiness can also extend to the mouth and ears.

Perennial Allergic Rhinitis

Symptoms that occur during the hayfever season can also occur all year for some sufferers. This is likely to be the result of an allergy to a different airborne allergen.
House dust mite are most likely suspect; also mould spores, pets or chemicals in the air.

How can homeopathy help?

Using a combination of homeopathic doses of the allergen and classical homeopathic treatment, homeopathy can treat the symptoms of hayfever during the season and the tendency to hayfever out of season. Two seasons of treatment should clear the underlying cause, leading to hayfever-free seasons from the third year.
